Cousins

Cody, Raquel and Cash came down to hang out with us this weekend.
Case thought Cash was pretty cool, although he didn't really want to share his stuff. Who does, though. This looks just like a National Geographic photo, 'Real folks from the Heartland'.

Saturday

Marc's parents are in town, and we had lots of fun yesterday. After a nutritious breakfast at Waffle House we headed to our favorite beach and spent the afternoon there.
Pinchy crabs! After a sandy afternoon we drove into Destin and took a Dolphin Cruise.
Case's favorite part of the dolphin cruise was feeding seagulls Fritos off the back of the boat.
This bird just snagged his Frito. He was delighted. He also got to drive the ship for awhile. He was rather energetic with his steering.

The dolphins had suprisingly pink bellies.
Baby dolphin!

He picks this particular horse every time. Its name is Zelda. Learning more about the camera. I took one really good picture tonight.

Zoo

Marc had the day off so when Case got home we went to the Zoo together. It was lots of fun and it started raining just as Case was running out of gas.

Case communed with the otters.

He almost fulfilled his lifelong dream of petting a peacock by sneaking up on one.

It was less than thrilled.

He also fed some very mellow sheep. This was followed by thorough hand sanitizing.

A wonderful day.

Can you tell me how to get to Sesame Street?

Last night Case and I had the privilage to attend a USO show where Sesame Street characters talked to kids about parents deploying. My contact with the USO before this was really non-existant, but I left there feeling very impressed, and touched by the open armed support that the volunteers showed. We left with a big bag of stickers, books and videos, and information about things they and MilitaryOneSource can help us with.
I don't think Case got a ton out of it, we didn't sit very close because he wasn't really comfortable with the kid madness, and he doesn't understand what they are talking about. But he did stay and watch the whole thing, and was very good. One of us may have gotten a little sniffly when they sang "Elmo is proud of you".

This, of course, was Case's favorite part-volunteers handed them out at the door. Spinning lights, vibrations and sounds; the Autism Trifecta, as Case's Neuro would say. He slept with it last night.

I hope all the volunteers leave every show feeling like rock stars.

Pictures of the event-they printed these up for us and handed them out at the door as we left.

Crackers!

I locked Case and Molly in the backyard today after school. They shared some crackers and dug holes in my sad florida lawn.

Cute

Photo taken from inside, through the window, because they both would have jumped up if I walked outside. Super cute.

MOPP

Somehow it is really funny in my living room.Marc came home today from Chemical Warfare training. Probably won't need it in Germany, but every deployed person gets it regardless of where they go. It all works surprisingly well for something built by the lowest bidder.
