More pool
He is so close to learning to swim. The fear of going under is gone, now it is just months of learning the movements, coordination and timing involved. Maybe he'll figure it out before the end of the summer. Learning things isn't a lightbulb moment for him, it's a long slow sunrise. But it's so bright once it's up.

More swimming
For a boy who had never voluntarily put his head under water four days ago he sure looks comfortable.
I know this makes the third post about swimming in a row but when something is this fun it's going to show up a lot. But most of you will never actually see him swim outside the blog. We went for the third time this week this morning, and Case continues to get so much better. Also, I got an awesome new camera and need to show off.

Diver
More swimming at the base pool for us today. Tuesday we discovered if you wear the mask you both look like a diver and don't get water in your nose. Today was the first time he was able to get a toy off the bottom without me pushing him to the bottom!

Berries
Case and I picked blueberries again today at our favorite local farm. Once again I wonder why anyone plants a bush that isn't a blueberry. And once again Case picks a minimal amount then spends the rest of the time suffering. He actually picked about 10 this time, which is probably 5 times more than he did last time.
I, however, was determined to pack as many blueberries into my gallon bucket and myself as possible and needed to buy some time. I have my ways of keeping him occupied.

Arr!
Next up in our summer of fun was the Georgia Renaissance Festival. We went on Pirate weekend, because nothing makes Case happier than having people with eye patches and big hats yell "Arr!" back at him. It turns out it was approximately 1000 degrees that day though, so in retrospect we should have gone the weekend before when temperatures had been unseasonably wonderful.
No matter, we had a good time. All Case's favorite things involved animals:
Jousting,
Birds of Prey show,Parrots of the Caribbean, and a very small and furry shoulder dragon he talked me into.He didn't so much care for the Maypole dance though, even though we were surrounded by real live fairies. It's Oberon and Titania! Has the kid never read Shakespeare? Perhaps this is what I get for relying on a public education.

Graduation, but not really
Next up in our busy end of the year celebration was Honors Day. As we have covered before, Case is not really one who cares about this type of ceremony.

Parachute
Life has been very busy lately, with the end of school, IEP meetings, travel to three states, and neurologist appointments. So I'll backtrack about three weeks to Case's end of the year class party. His favorite part was the parachute. The parachute in my opinion was the absolute coolest part of elementary school. Case agrees. After a while, his play changes though. He starts watching things differently. I can see him planning something. He looks across the chute and makes eye contact-And darts for the center, to let the parachute slowly settle around him as he emerges from the center to his friend's giggles.
