Sand Castles

 I think most people would describe us a "extremely nerdy," which is why it should be no surprise to any of you that we have been doing research about sand sculpture. 

 While we have been involved in some truly epic castles with the Shepard Clan, we feel that we are ready to take things to the next level and want to be prepared next time the Horde descends upon us. 

 Saturday we test-drove a concept.  Look for bigger things in our future, when we rent the backhoe. 

Zoo

 As at every other duty station so far, we have a zoo pass here.  But Case develops his favorite spots quickly, so it takes us quite a few trips to see everything the zoo has to offer. 

That is why it took us three or four trips to discover the keiki zoo, where if you are cute enough they will let you snuggle the furry chickens.

 They also have a dizzying round tank of koi where you can crawl into a clear tube in the hole of the donut to watch the fish, and a huge pen full of goats waiting to have their heads scratched.  What a discovery! 

Birds

 Case has befriended all the neighborhood birds.

 They don't quite eat out of his hand, but pretty close.

They fly up when he goes in the back yard, hoping he has brought a cup of seeds to throw them, or maybe a snack that he will share.

But because I am the meanest mom in the world I now demand they be fed strictly on the grass, because I am tired of bird poop on our patio.
